April Craft

April craft!! Well I decided to try my hand at cake decorating! I first was going to do one of those princess dress cakes, then I decided I wanted to try some fondant, so I came up with this one! I got some round cake pans and mixed up some marshmellow fondant broke it into two peices and added blue to half of it and squished it together with my hands and it came out looking super marbely, perfect I thought for under the sea, and I had ordered Indi a play set of the Little Mermaid so those would go perfect on the cake! My sister in law and kids were in town so she stayed up with me and rolled out the fondant and helped me put it all together, it turned out so so great!! The fondant did not have the clean edges on the tiers that I wanted so we tried some different frosting pipping and they were not my favorite so my sister in law just dragged her finger in a wavey motion in the frosting along the edges and it looked so good!!! Then we made some green frosting for some sea weed, added the characters and TADA!!! It turned out so much better then I had imagined!

March Craft

This is my March craft. I made Indis birthday invites! I ordered these littlke grafic art files and put them all together, it was super simple but very time consuming cutting out all the little characters. But I think they turned out super cute!

What Indi decided to do while I was crafting

My first craft!!!! Valentines Wreath

Ok so I have seen quite a few cute wreaths and I chose some different teqniques I wanted to use and different ideas, and I actually had to change my original idea in the last minute because hobby lobby didnt have the size of wreath I wanted. I originally wanted one large heart for the wreath, but there were not any plasti-foam wreaths left so I got one medium size and two small hearts and went from there. The longest part for me was picking the fabric. I am the worst at decisions, ha. So after taking 15 laps up and down the fabric rows. I picked these three. The process was pretty dang easy. I cut the fabric into two different sizes. For the big heart I cut them into 2 1/2 inch squares and for the small 1 1/2 inch squares. I started with the large heart the the 2 1/2 squares ended up being way to big. so I used the 1 1/2 squares for the large heart. I put the fabric over the end of a pencil with the color side toward the pencil, put some hot glue on the end and stuck it on....easy easy. Just took a lot of time and hot glue burns, but it turned out realy cute! For the smaller hearts I had to take the 2 1/2 fabric squares and cut them into 4 smaller squares and that ended up to be perfect size. I followed the same process. Oh I didnt put the fabric all the way around either. I just put it around the sides and the front. Any way I made a loop with some wide black ribbon I had and glued it on top of the large heart and used the rest of the fabric to connect the other two hearts. Any way it only took me two days, but I have not done anything else for two days, ha. I have a funny video of what Indi decided to do while I was doing my craft which I will post. Any way let me know what you think!! Not to bad for my first craft I would say!

Blog Beginings

Well here I go....What I am wanting to do is a craft a month and blog about it....easy enough eh? Not. I have have a 20 month old and a 1 month old. My 20 month old is crazy active and wants my attention at every moment. (unless princess and the frog is on) So unless I am playing this movie non stop all day I am a bit busy with her and the care of a new born. This all started when we moved to our new home in Albuquerque. We are all alone here, no family and meeting new friends is always rough, so I am wanting a hobby. I took sewing classes all through highschool which I did enjoy but I have not kept up on. My sister-in-laws are all super crafty moms, I really dont know how they do it. I am sort of copying my sis in laws idea with the putting your crafts on a blog idea, but she does jewelry and scrapbooking stuff. The crafts I want to do are going to be hybrids of things I have seen people do online with a twist of teqniques I have seen on other crafts to make them my own. Any way I have zero creative bones in my body so this will deffinatly be rough so wish me luck, but I am very excited about this. I am hoping to go to the store tonight to get stuff for my first craft. Any way wish me luck!!!
